Female free to family home « Result #3 on Aug 20, 2009, 12:01pm »
"Cinnamon Waffles", 7 year old spayed female, looking for a special family for a companion home. She basically loves women and a little more nervous around men, with some possible submissive attitude towards them. She is so bright and loves to pickup and carry objects around and brings them to you. Great with older kids. She was always great with my kids and kids in our old neighborhood who were animal lovers and approached her gently. When younger Cinnamon went to obedience training (given by a seeing eye instructor). The instructor raved about her, and how quickly she followed commands. She is actually hand-command trained to stay and come.
This dog is Located in Seabrook Island, SC. The rescue group could possibly help with transportation with the dog to any area for a new home. Owners husband is very ill with cancer and travels each week for treatment and isn’t home to care for the dog. Very heart breaking. I own three Chessies and love them dearly, but yes that is an issue around our house too. Don't be upset by it or misunderstand it; make feeding time a daily reminder that you are the boss in your house. I usually start with setting the food down and making my dogs sit, at least 3 feet away for aprox. 3 minutes before eating. I also monitor their places so that each has the same feeding area each day, and that is the only place they eat! I also practice taking away the food bowl while they eat, and yes they do occasionally growl, but I've grown up around chessies my whole life and have learned that chessies are very vocal animals. Growling does not necessarily mean they are about to bite, only that they are "talking", either happy or upset at what is happening. When the ears go back and the tail tucks is when you will have to gently place the dog on his side and hold him there until he relaxes and submits. My oldest female is extremely stubborn, but this routine makes her a very obedient dog when retrieving or simply lying around the house!
Please Help My Chessie « Result #7 on Apr 30, 2009, 8:50pm »
Hi everyone. I am new to the group and I would like to introduce my Chesapeake. My baby is just about 4-years-old. When she was a year and a half she lost her front leg in an accident. She stayed healthy and exercised every day and was doing very well. We moved about 2 years ago now and about 6 months after being here, she got sick from contaminated water where she swims. She was unable to exercise properly for about 6 months and it took quite a toll. She gained weight and it is now difficult for her to get around as it is putting a great deal of stress on her front leg. We have found a great site that has front leg wheels that will help get her out and exercising and hopefully get back to her normal health. It is very sad to see her not get around like she used to - she seems sad and it breaks my heart. I am reaching out to all fellow Chesapeake lovers and hope you will all take a look at my Fundable website to raise funds to get Bella her wheels. Even if you can't make a donation, please just take a look at her picture and send prayers her way.
This link should take you to my website. If you have any problems getting there, please let me know.

Well firstly try the hypoallergenic diet from royal canin, personally I have faith in it. Secondly the vet must conduct a haemogram, pus culture, and probably skin biopsy to put an end to the problem. I would particularly like to rule out chronic pyodermsa or deep seated pyoderma and also pemphigus if possible. For this the above mentioned tests would be needed. Next please remember to continue antibiotics for three weeks after the last lesion has resolved if possible.

Hey all! My name is Ashley my husband Scott and I get our chessie pup next friday and are having trouble coming up with a good registration name for him! The dads name is BLUE SKY SHIP WRECK ISLAND (call name REX) and the mom MAKE A WISH (call name PENNY) we don't mind if the pups name doesnt have anything to do with these....just gave them as examples. We are duck hunters and want it to be waterfowl related! And would also like the call name to be somewhere in the registration name. We are liking FOWL MOUTHED.......but we don't know what to put at the end with some name we can use! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hope to get some feed back soon!!! Thanks!!

Our chessie was interested in the rabbits but he won't bark or bay. So if he brings it back around it is a "surprise". He does well with grouse and loves to fetch anything that falls out of the sky.
