I adopted a chessie last year and he is now two. Since I got him he has had skin problems. He was missing large chunks of hair. the vet put him on antibiotics and it cleared, only to come back the following month. Two more rounds of this and we are still getting spots of missing hair. The spots are all at different locations and are preceeded with red bumps, then scabs, and hair loss. He also has constant yeast infections of the ears.
I got a second opinion and the second vet perscribed him dog prozac, and said it was a behavioral issue. I know this is not correct because the bumps preceed everything includeing the scratching.
I have tried changing his diet and am currently on the third cycle. I am currently giving him Eagle pack fish protein diet. 4 cups a day. Other then that his a a perfect dog. Can someone please help.
Thank you.

Well firstly try the hypoallergenic diet from royal canin, personally I have faith in it. Secondly the vet must conduct a haemogram, pus culture, and probably skin biopsy to put an end to the problem. I would particularly like to rule out chronic pyodermsa or deep seated pyoderma and also pemphigus if possible. For this the above mentioned tests would be needed. Next please remember to continue antibiotics for three weeks after the last lesion has resolved if possible.
